Alyssa Bermudez, author illustrator of graphic memor Run Home

Meet Alyssa

Alyssa Bermudez (she/her) is a New York–born illustrator, designer, and cartoonist living down under in Tasmania, Australia. She loves telling real-life stories through ink, watercolour, and digital illustration, often drawing from her own diaries, memories, and messy, emotional moments.

Alyssa is the author and illustrator of the middle-grade graphic memoir Big Apple Diaries (2021), which is now held in the permanent collection of the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City. Her latest graphic novel memoir, Run Home, explores friendship, running, and navigating grief with creativity, honesty, and heart.

Her work spans graphic novels, picture books, surface design, live event illustration, and performance, and has appeared in over a dozen children’s books, fabric collections, and on stage. When she’s not making comics, Alyssa works as an art director, live-sketches weddings and events, teaches art workshops, and presents to schools about writing and illustration.

Alyssa is obsessed with dogs, books, travel, live drawing, and keeping plants alive.
